How to Create a Gift Wrapping Station

Welcome to the most wonderful time of the year! The holidays are right around the corner. As you prepare for gift giving this holiday season, let’s make sure that you have your gift wrapping station in order to do so.

First you want to start with what you have. Sort all of your wrapping paper together, gift bags by size or occasion (whichever makes sense to you), ribbons, and the rest of your supplies by category. If there are bags that aren’t in reusable condition you have permission to purge those along with wrapping paper scraps that are only big enough to re-wrap a toy car.

Next, gather your supplies. Unsure of what to have on hand?

Check out our checklist:

1.     Scissors or Wrapping Paper Cutter – this tool is MAGIC and will allow you to measure how much you need as well as cut your wrapping paper perfectly!

2.     Wrapping tape- yes, this is a specific wrapping paper tape that won’t leave any noticeable film behind.

3.     Double stick tape – keep your edges crisp and clean by using this!

This Elfa Gift Wrap Cart is one of our favorite gift wrap organizers. The deeper drawers are perfect for storing your gift bags and boxes, while the shallower drawers can hold tissue paper and gift tags. The side of the cart neatly contains your wrapping paper and ribbons.

If you’re a fan of Elfa and have space behind your door or on a wall, you can also add a Utility Gift Packaging Door & Wall Rack.

Another option to contain your wrapping paper is this Clear Vertical Gift Wrap Box that can hold up to 20 rolls of wrapping paper upright for easy access. If you’re finding that it’s overflowing, challenge yourself to either use up rolls that are dwindling or donate ones that you no longer want.

Have some under the bed or horizontal storage? There’s also the Wrap & Tote Organizer that has extra pockets and compartments for your other gift bags, wrapping papers or ribbons.

If you’re limited on space or prefer to have all of your gift wrap hanging in a closet, the Hanging Gift Wrap Organizer can help you keep a minimal amount of wrapping supplies nice and tidy.

Have ribbon exploding everywhere? Let’s wind it back together and contain it. If you’re more of a DIY-type, find an old shoe box to contain any extra ribbons, bows or tags. If you’re looking for a more polished look, this Clear Ribbon Box allows you to contain ribbon of any width. It also includes a compact top area for your scissors or other small gift wrapping accessories. This box is sure to keep your ribbons organized and dust-free.

If you have a lot of extra ribbon, this ribbon ladder might be a good idea to keep them all color-coded or by category.

For extra cards, tags, washi tape, or ribbon, the 2-Layer Gift Embellishment Organizer is easy to store and great to tote your gift wrapping accessories around with you.

No matter how you decide to organize your gift wrapping station, it will make the gift wrapping process so much less time consuming when you can find exactly what you’re looking. Take this time before the holidays to really assess what you have and purge the excess!
