How To Store Your Purses

If you’ve been following along, you know we love to talk about closet organization. You know we design custom spaces to fit our clients’ needs and prefer slimline hangers to save space, but purses can often be an afterthought. We’ve rounded up some of our favorite ways and products to store purses so they aren’t getting bunched up or damaged in a corner of your closet. Whether you like them on display or neatly stored away, it’s important to store them properly to preserve their life.

We highly recommend these purse shapers to prevent wrinkles and creases in your handbags. They come in different sizes and allow you to store your handbags upright, making them easier to see when you’re putting an outfit together. Plus they’ll look great on the top shelves of your closet. For even more assistance with keeping your purses upright, use these shelf dividers.

For clutches that don’t tend to sit well on a shelf or are too thin for an insert, we love this acrylic clutch sorter. This 4-section organizer shows off your clutches, and looks even better with two or three lined up in a row. If you do like to display your purses and clutches, but don’t want them exposed to dust, we recommend this acrylic organizer. It has dividers and a covered top to protect them.

Don’t have shelf space? Try these purse hangers. Their wide track supports handbag straps, so even leather handbags and totes don’t lose their shape or wrinkle, while the hangers’ lipped edges keep bags from sliding off. I prefer these for larger bags and totes that don’t fit on shelves.

If you have some purses that are just too precious to display, use the dustbag they came in to protect it with purse shapers inside. Keep them in a bin like this one on a shelf or in a corner.

We can all agree that handbags are an investment, so let’s also agree to keep them protected and stored properly! I love a mix of displaying some favorite purses, using a clutch sorter and organizing by color, and storing some larger totes on purse hangers. As always, it depends on the hanging and shelf space your closet has.
