How To Organize Your Pantry

One of the most commonly used spaces within a home is your pantry. With that being said, they can become the quickest space to unravel. This blog is going to focus on how to get your pantry organized including our favorite products to help us do so.

Step 1: Sort

First pull everything out of your pantry and sort it all by category. Categories might include: cereal, breakfast, spices, pasta and grains, baking, canned goods, etc.

Step 2: Purge

Even though clients always tell me that they went through their pantry recently, it’s typically not that recent. Check to make sure that all of your foods are up to date and wanted. Any foods that you no longer want can be donated to a food pantry, typically up to three months expired.

Step 3: Products

Now the question is how to contain what you have. This varies space to space depending on how much storage room you have in your pantry.

Linus Bins:

One of our favorite kitchen items that we sell at our studio are the Linus InterDesign Bins. They come in many different sizes and help contain categories. If you have deep cabinets they help create a drawer-like sensation pulling the whole bin out at once eliminating things from getting shoved and lost in the back of your pantry. We highly recommend you label the bin so things end up back where they belong.

Shelf Risers:

If you’re stuck with high shelves and wasted vertical space, buy shelf risers like these to give yourself a second shelf. Your pantry will thank you for the added storage.

Turntables:

These suckers are a great option for those dead corners or heavier oils and vinegars. Two options include a divided lazy susan as well as a flat one like these. You'll be able to easily grab whatever you're looking for with a quick spin of a finger.

OXO Bins & Canisters:

If you have open containers that you’re constantly reaching into, consider OXO pop-up bins and canisters which keep your ingredients fresh and easily accessible. These definitely give your pantry a sleek look if you’re trying to have your pantry look Martha Stewart-esque. Make sure you label the bins so that you don’t get your sugars confused.

There is no time like the present to start organizing your pantry! You will end up finding room you didn’t realize you had after doing some purging and product placing.
