Wallets are something you pick up and hold on a daily basis. Knowing this, wouldn’t you want it to be the most organized item that you own? Read below for some ways to make using your wallet simple and satisfying!

ESP: Empty, Sort, Purge

For starters, empty out your entire wallet. Similarly to your purse, when you’re first getting started you want to start fresh.  Next, start the sorting process by putting all of your like items together ie: coins, business cards, credit cards, notes, etc. Purge anything that does not belong in your purse and make sure you shred any credit cards that are expired.

Keep What’s Necessary

Your wallet does not need to be a mini brief case of business cards, credit cards, gift cards and everything in between. As a matter of fact, cards like your social security card should not be kept in your wallet. If someone were to get a hold of your social security card you’re putting yourself at risk for identity theft. Find a secure spot within your home to hold any of the items that are not everyday items.

Count Your Change

There’s no need to keep $20 in quarters in your purse. The weight and room that the change takes up is very limiting and often unnecessary. In addition to your coins, order your dolla dolla billz in amount order and then place them into the bill slot of your wallet rather than folded up and shoved inside.

Let’s Get Digital

Try linking your rewards cards to an online app like “CardStar” so you can rid your wallet and keyring of them. Purge any old business cards or better yet, put the information into the contacts of phone so you can recycle that paper. If you’re finding scraps of paper shoved in your wallet, type those notes into the “Notes” app of your phone so they are saved digitally taking up zero clutter in your wallet.

Wrangle Your Receipts

Receipts are easily the number 1 culprit of paper taking up space inside of your wallet. If you are guilty of keeping your receipts for any period of time make sure that you are regularly taking them out of your wallet to help clear out space. You can store them inside something like this organized by month.

During our last blog we discussed how to get your purse organized. Hopefully this week’s blog will have you reaching for your cards with ease. Now that you have these resources, if you haven’t already it’s time to grab your purse and wallet and get to it! Looks like we may have to look into a new blog on spending responsibly.
