Gift Wrapping Tips and Everything You’ll Need

The holiday season is in full force and it’s time to start practicing (or beginning) your gift wrapping! For some this might seem like a daunting task, but let us provide you with some tips and tricks to make it a fun part of your holiday celebrating!

Set the Mood
Whether or not you enjoy gift wrapping, make it an enjoyable experience. I personally like to wrap my gifts while watching a holiday movie or playing festive music in the background. It helps me get into the spirit even more while wrapping.

Have the right supplies
If you’re someone like me who struggles to cut the right amount of paper or keep your edges extra crisp, here are some products to help make it easier:
1.     Wrapping Paper Cutter – this tool is the BEST and will allow you to measure how much you need and cut your wrapping paper perfectly!
2.     Double stick tape – this might seem obvious to some, but it’s such a gamechanger when wrapping! Using double stick tape helps keep your folding lines and edges crisp and clean, and you don’t have to look at tape all over your beautiful packaging.
3.     Gift Wrap Tape - yes, this exists. What makes it so special? It’s tape that won’t leave any noticeable film behind.

Keep it simple
One of my favorite gift wrapping tips is to only purchase paper that has grid lines on the underside of the wrapping paper. Although this might seem obvious to some, if you’re a newbie, this is a GAME CHANGER. What’s the big deal you might ask? It helps you cut your paper evenly as well as accurately measure how much paper you need.

Organize your supplies
Once you’ve figured out what materials you need, make sure you keep them organized! The holiday season is probably not the only time you’re reaching for some wrapping paper, so why make it difficult for yourself every time you go to wrap something? Here are some products we love to recommend to keep your gift wrap organized:

1.     The Elfa Gift Wrap Cart is one of our favorite gift wrap organizers. It's super easy to transport and has an area for all of your supplies including wrapping paper on one side, ribbon on the other and drawers for bows, bags and other gift wrapping needs!
2.     If you have vertical space and a surplus of wrapping paper, try using this Clear Vertical Gift Wrap Box for your wrapping paper.
3.     Only have room under the bed? This Wrap and Tote Organizer is perfect to stash all of your wrapping supplies. There are even clear side pockets so you can see exactly what’s inside.

When all else fails…
Use a gift bag or gift box! The holidays can be stressful enough and sometimes it’s not worth the added stress to wrap all of your gifts individually. Find a festive bag and use some tissue paper instead of getting out the scissors and tape. Another way to simplify your wrapping is to stick the gift in a shirt box which is much easier to wrap.

We hope you’ve gotten some golden nuggets out of this gift wrapping blog. Looking for more? Check out our previous blog on how to create a gift wrapping station. No matter which method, materials and storage optiosn you choose, have your wrapping experience be enjoyable and hassle free, wrap after wrap! Happy Holidays!
