How to Organize Under the Kitchen Sink

Whether you are organizing underneath your kitchen sink or bathroom sink, there’s always something to organize! Typically these spaces can become a pit of random cleaning products, rags, bags and so much more if you don’t have a system in place. If you’re struggling to keep underneath your kitchen sink neat and tidy, check out our suggestions below!

As with any space we organize, we always sort and purge first. Thankfully the cabinet underneath the kitchen sink can only be so big, so pulling everything out from underneath it shouldn’t be too much of a big deal! Sort your items into categories that make sense to you. Here are some options:

1.     Divide your cleaners by space ie: kitchen vs. bathroom

2.     Categorize by what you use most frequently

3.     Depending on any pipe obstructions, larger items might only have a few specific spaces where they can go

Once you’re done sorting, take measurements of the space. The sink is one area where it is usually necessary to have some sort of bin or product to keep the space organized, mainly because they typically hold a lot. As I mentioned up top, make sure that you’re accounting for any obstructions including pipes, garbage disposal and valves while taking measurements.

If you have all the depth in the world with minimal obstructions, let the product come to you by installing a glide out. Glide outs are definitely the most involved when it comes to making sure the measurements fit nicely, but if you’re handy at all, installing them is a breeze. We love that this one has two tiers because it lets you really maximize the height of your cabinet. Here’s another option if you don’t want to drill into your cabinet. If you like the second option, make sure that your tallest bottle will still fit the height of the organizer.

If pipes are becoming an issue, have no fear! This expandable under sink organizer is customizable so you can make it as wide as you need while avoiding pipes in the middle. It’s super easy to put together and also avoids any drilling. There’s also a nice glide out within this organizer that can be very useful too so things don’t get lost in the back.

Another rent-friendly option is to use iDesign bins. These clear bins create the same glide out effect and let you keep your categories together. This plastic bin is another great option too. Although we typically give plastic alternatives when it comes to product, having something durable and wipeable under the sink is important for any leaks that may occur.

If you’re still struggling to store everything you need, adhere something to the inside of your door like this one. You can use it for your most frequently used items, or for smaller items like extra sponges.

Depending on how much stuff you have under your sink, one huge incentive to keeping less is being able to install a pull out trash can. I have one of these under my sink and not having a trash can floating around my kitchen is a gamechanger.

Always grabbing on the go? We have these lovely storage caddy's that are perfect to tote your cleaning supplies around the house. They also nestle inside of a larger bucket that can be used for mopping.

The space underneath your kitchen sink doesn’t have to be a sore spot! Make it easy for anyone that’s looking to grab exactly what they need at a moment’s notice.
